Things you need to know
Recyclops bags
You use Recyclops bags as part of the service for these reasons: 1) These bags save you money, are higher quality than comparatively priced bags (and with strong drawstrings), and with the exception of beginning your service, Recyclops delivers them to your door. Recyclops bags only cost you $10/year for four rolls of 26 bags per roll for a total of 104 bags. 2) Using uniform bags makes them much easier to recycle. How? Plastic bags can be easily recycled as long as recyclers know the material is uniform. Their bags are made of LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) so there’s no guessing or mixing of different plastic bag materials for recyclers. 3) Recyclops branded bags are unmistakable. This means that drivers can readily identify them, making it harder to miss your bagged recyclables. 4) The branded bags increase Recyclops visibility, thus increasing recycling awareness and community participation.
How collections work
Bag your recyclables in Recyclops bags and place them on your curb by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day (e.g., 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month) for collection by 6 p.m. Recyclops will collect your recyclables on your scheduled pickup day barring any special circumstances such as a holiday (they collect the day before a holiday) or adverse weather conditions. You must flatten large cardboard boxes that do not fit into your Recyclops bag(s) and place them under your bag(s). To view your ongoing collection schedule and additional information recycling, visit www.recyclops.com and select your location. If you are within city limits, The City of Kaufman handles all invoicing and payment collections through your utility bill and charges you whether you place your recycling out for pickup or not.
Types of material you can recycle
Recyclops will accept all household paper, flattened cardboard, metal cans and containers, glass, and plastic containers #1 - #7 (look for number in the recycling triangle on each plastic container to know its resin identification code). Please remove any food and residue from your recyclables.
Some of the most common items that should NOT be included with your recycling are: unflattened cardboard boxes, unbagged recyclables (with the exception of flattened cardboard), styrofoam, bagged recycling that is not in a Recyclops bag, metals that are not cans or containers, plastic that is not a container, and anything with food still in or on it.
