About the Comprehensive Plan
The City of Kaufman is currently developing a new Comprehensive Plan to guide the community’s future growth and development.
The City of Kaufman Comprehensive Plan is a community-driven guide for our city’s future growth and development that is used by City Council, Planning & Zoning, and City staff to make informed decisions that align with the community's vision and priorities. While the Comprehensive Plan does not change zoning on its own, it provides guidance to ensure future growth is thoughtful, sustainable, and consistent with the values of Kaufman.
Community awareness and engagement are essential as we work together to plan for Kaufman’s future.
We encourage residents, business owners, and stakeholders to review the Comprehensive Plan and become familiar with the goals and recommendations outlined within it and share their thoughts as we work together to shape Kaufman’s future.

Past Plans
The City of Kaufman first adopted a Comprehensive Plan in 1980, followed by an updated plan in 1999.
In 2008, the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council began work on a new Comprehensive Plan. After a joint workshop and several public hearings, the updated Plan was adopted in 2009. A Parks Plan was later incorporated as a component of the Comprehensive Plan in 2011.
